About Jimmy Johns

Jimmy John’s, a sandwich chain based in Champaign, Illinois, was established by Jimmy John Liautaud in 1983. When Liautaud finished high school, his father presented him with a choice: either enlist in the military or embark on a business venture. Liautaud opted to start a hot dog business, which later evolved into sandwiches due to financial considerations.

The menu at Jimmy John’s features three bread choices: French, thick-sliced Wheat, and the smaller six-inch “Lil’ John.” Additionally, they offer a lettuce wrap alternative called the Unwich and a tortilla wrap option. In March 2017, Jimmy John’s received the Franchise Times’ “Deal of the Year” award for attracting Roark Capital Group as the company’s new majority owner.
